There are many ways to get to Crete, and flying is one popular way to arrive. Whether you are arriving from an international destination, or just from a neighboring Greek Island, there is the perfect flight to get you to Crete.

There are three airports on the Island of Crete, two of which offer international flights. The first is Nikos Kazantzàkis International Airport, located in the capital city of Heraklion. As the second busiest airport in Greece, it is modern and efficient, and is a wonderful place to enter the island of Crete. There are over 50 air carriers that operate from the airport, most of which come from cities across Europe. The majority of these flights are seasonal, often operating exclusively in the peak tourism season of summer.

The smaller of the international airports in Crete is the Ioannis Daskalogiannis Chania International Airport. It too offers flights from several carriers, most of which fly to the larger European cities, and of course many flights to domestic locations within Greece like Athens and Thessanoliki. Chartered flights are a possibility from the airport, although they will of course come with a much higher price than just the standard passenger flights.

Sitia Public Airport is the smallest on the island of Crete, and only offers flights from other Greek cities, including Athens, Heraklion, and Rhodes.

Many travelers from Europe look for special deals in order to guarantee the lowest prices on their trips to Crete. This is a great idea, as it can save a lot of money thanks to bundling the costs of your flights and hotels into one. Search through the various air carriers and find an affordable flight to Crete. Remember that peak tourism season in the height of summer will be the most expensive time to visit Crete.
